Responsible for the full scope of individual projects from the point of receipt of purchase order to shipment, installation and start-up of equipment and/or systems. Responsible to ensure projects are done on time and within budget. To provide working Panel drawings, Electrical Schematics, PLC programming and HMI graphics as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Sales, Application Engineers and Sales Engineering/Support staff in the development stages of a quote.
  • Serve as primary customer contact (electrical) once projects have started.
  • Obtain customer specifications not received during the quote phase.
  • Confirm all details of Purchase Order (i.e., dollar amount, terms and conditions, delivery date, shipping address, etc.) match with the proposal.
  • Work out the design phase of the project and serve as the primary customer contact for all questions (electrical) needing to be addressed with the customer.
  • Ensure that the system being designed is within the parameters of the quote.
  • Monitor time lines of engineering release dates.
  • Handle all other peripheral responsibilities.
  • Perform quality and functional checks during the production phase of the project.
  • Assist with other Project Manager's project shakedowns to ensure function and quality.
  • Specify, design and evaluate Controllers, sensors, and electrical components by means and portions by applying principles of electrical, software and materials engineering.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex control system issues.
  • Develop control architectures, control functional specifications, and system integration requirements that will satisfy process and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop electrical prints for Panel construction.
  • Develop system electrical schematics.
  • Travel to plant sites and other locations as required, estimated at 30%
  • Coordinate delivery schedule and delivery of electrical components.
  • Supervise in house set-up and testing and arrange for customer inspections as necessary.
  • Coordinate field service assistance for the installation and start-up phase as necessary.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety rules.
  • Perform startup duties as deemed necessary per project requirements.







QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Proficient with Rockwell Automation RSLogix 5000, Allen Bradley PLCs (Compactlogix and Controllogix), robotics, machine safeties, servos, stepper motors, motor starters, motor controllers, Cognex vision systems and electrical cabinet design.
  • Proficient in developing electrical schematics (AutoCAD).
  • Ability to troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment with little/no supervision.
  • Proficient with VFD's, servos, encoders, network/Ethernet controls, and PLC programming.
  • Panel View use/programming with A/B based control architecture.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot assembly automation equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming a plus.
  • Familiarity with cameras, Cognex, 2D barcoding a plus.
  • Ability to engineer large projects by completed hardware installation drawings, application software and graphics as required.
  • Ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires the minimum of a Bachelors degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering and 2 to 5 years of experience with good academic track with PLC knowledge and AutoCAD skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Good verbal and written communication skills are required to insure that information is being conveyed correctly.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Advanced mathematical ability.

Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with a minimum of individual supervision
