Title: Compounder
Shift: M-Th 5AM-3:30PM
Pay: $21.00 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Compounder I is responsible for weighing batches and manufactures product batches according to formula procedures and operating processing equipment in one or more functions of manufacturing. This position is under the direct supervision of the Compounding Supervisor and Sr. Compounding Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:

• Weigh ingredients as required following formulas/written procedures using approved/calibrated scales.
• Ensure all ingredients are weighed and placed into the proper sanitized containers.
• Wash, sanitize, and set up all necessary manufacturing equipment used in making cosmetic and/or drink batches using cGMP procedures.
• Compound lotions, creams, shampoos, soap products, drinks etc., by combining and mixing the ingredients per formula and written procedures.
• Use Drum Manipulator to dump ingredients into holding tank or container with no waste due to mishandling.
• Properly operate processing equipment (i.e., pumps, tanks, mixers, etc.)
• Draw a sample of product from the tank to be taken to lab for testing.
• Initial batch sheets and sign tank cards to verify that the formulas/procedures were followed when compounding each product.
• Identify incorrectly prepared batches and inform Supervisor(s) immediately.
• Fix incorrectly prepared batches by following formulas/written procedures and using math skills to problem-solve formulas.
• always Keep compounding area clean.
• Safely operate forklift to move pallets, drums, tanks around the department.
• Use the current inventory system for weighing
• Comply with Company SOPs and safety guidelines.
• Adjust the speed of the mixer when necessary.
• Make minor repairs to the facilities and equipment such as cleaning air conditioning vents and cleaning off insulation of pipe work.
• Fill in for employees on vacation or call-ins when necessary.
• Assist packaging and lab personnel when needed.
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• Understand the full process of the Compounding Department.
• Knowledge of safe forklift operation or able to be trained to drive a forklift safely.
• Ability to read and write English to read and follow formulas, procedures and equipment instructions.
• Ability to accurately convert measurements.
• Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Manage multiple tasks at one time.
• Be familiar with the current inventory system (RF Gen).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Manual dexterity for record keeping.
• Stand/remain upright for periods of up to 4 hours at a time.
• Bend, squat, kneel, balance, turn, and stoop.
• Reach forward and overhead.
• Good eye/hand coordination.
• If driving a forklift, ability to operate and drive forklift safely.
• Able to meet and follow all OSHA recommendations per product compounded
• Able to climb ladders up to 10 feet.
• Ability to use controls to operate and drive a forklift.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
• High school education or GED required.
• 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• 1 year of work experience in compounding required.
