Nesco Resource is hiring a CNC Process Specialist for our client, a precision machining company in Gilbert, AZ. This is a direct hire position with great benefits and long-term growth. If you're a machinist who loves making parts run faster, cleaner, and more profitably, this role is for you.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, process-focused position. You'll work alongside the machinists who program, set up, and run multi-axis Swiss screw machines and CNC lathes, and your focus is making their processes better. You'll dig into cycle times, tooling, and setups, and you'll help lead continuous improvement on the shop floor. You'll mentor and support the team, but this is not a formal supervisory role.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical guidance and process support for machinists running multi-axis Swiss screw machines (Citizen, Tsugami, Tornos Deco, Escomatic) and multi-axis CNC lathes (DMG Mori Seki NLX2500)
- Determine the best tooling, feeds, and speeds for complex parts, cutting cycle times while holding tight tolerances
- Specify and manage cutting tools, collets, and guide bushings, and monitor tool wear and wear offsets to prevent defects
- Troubleshoot G-code, chatter, tool wear, and dimensional drift during live runs
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T to develop and refine machining processes
- Lead or support Kaizen events and projects that reduce cycle times and setup times
- Apply Lean principles (5S, standard work, SMED) to machine cells and eliminate shop-floor waste
- Write and update SOPs and setup sheets so work is repeatable across shifts
- Work with engineering and quality to improve fixtures, toolpaths, and cutting parameters
- Help quote custom parts by estimating machining time and cost
- Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose and repair machine tool problems
- Train and informally mentor machinists and operators on best-practice setups and process controls
What We're Looking For
- Machining experience on Swiss screw machines and/or multi-axis CNC lathes
- Strong G-code, tooling, and blueprint/GD&T skills
- A process mindset, with a track record of reducing cycle times, setup times, or scrap
- Lean manufacturing knowledge (5S, SMED, Kaizen)
- Comfort mentoring and training others without needing a supervisor title
- Good communication with engineering, quality, and production teams
