Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to join a fabrication team focused on producing high-quality components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring precision, efficiency, and consistency across machining operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment, including CNC mills, manual lathes, drill presses, end mills, and laser welders
- Load tools, fixtures, and materials; ensure machines are calibrated and aligned for accurate operation
- Execute machining processes such as milling, turning, and drilling according to specifications
Programming & Technical Execution
- Load and modify CNC programs using G and M code as needed
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine setup, tooling, and machining requirements
- Read and work from SolidWorks drawings for accurate part production
Quality Control
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Ensure all components meet required tolerances and quality standards
Material Handling & Production
- Load and secure raw materials properly for machining
- Monitor production runs to maintain efficiency and address any issues in real time
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tooling
- Identify and resolve machining issues such as tool wear, misalignment, or equipment malfunctions
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately document production data, machine settings, and maintenance activity
- Complete daily reports, including production counts and scrap tracking
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, efficiency, and product quality
- Follow and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Safety
- Follow all safety protocols and properly use required PPE
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience, including setup and operation
- Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Working knowledge of CNC programming fundamentals (G-code)
- Experience operating both CNC and manual machines
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Understanding of common materials (aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical or trade school education
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or Mastercam
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic math skills for interpreting measurements and production data
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and reaching
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
