Position Overview
We are seeking an Unclaimed Property Claims Investigator to review, validate, and process claims related to ownership of unclaimed property. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, investigative skills, and the ability to independently review complex documentation and apply applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
The role supports the agency’s responsibility to safeguard unclaimed property and ensure claims are accurately reviewed and paid to the appropriate owners.
Key Responsibilities

Review and process unclaimed property claims.

Validate and substantiate claimant ownership.

Communicate professionally with claimants and property holders regarding complex claim requirements.

Conduct initial and follow-up claimant interviews and investigations.

Gather and verify information from multiple sources.

Review legal and financial documents, including:

Affidavits
-
Powers of attorney
-
Wills and trusts
-
Contracts
-
Court documents
-
Corporate resolutions and meeting minutes

Research records and reports to locate and verify property ownership.

Interpret and apply applicable statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Apply laws related to ownership, probate, and domestic relations across multiple jurisdictions.

Approve claims for payment when documentation and requirements are satisfied.

Manage a workload of claims while meeting statutory deadlines, quality standards, and agency expectations.
