Candidates must be local to the Hauppauge, NY office or able to reliably commute, as this is an on site role with in office collaboration being a key expectation.

Demonstrates a serious interest in the life safety and fire protection industry, with an understanding of the responsibility and rigor associated with life safety system design.
Is self driven, reliable, and motivated to learn, grow, and build a career within a structured engineering and design environment.
Comfortable working under supervision while actively seeking feedback, guidance, and technical development from senior design staff.
These attributes are essential for success on the team and should be treated as baseline qualifiers when identifying and advancing candidates for consideration.
It's important that the candidate takes the life safety industry seriously, is reliable, and is motivated to learn. We're looking for someone who wants to develop professionally, not just fill a short term CAD seat.

Key Qualifications
Proficient in AutoCAD 2014 or newer
Strong skills with Windows-based software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Experience in the construction industry, preferably:
Electrical construction
Mechanical construction
Low-voltage systems installation
Professional industry experience preferred over purely academic or club-based drafting experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Background
Candidates with experience supporting:
Fire alarm systems
Security systems
Access control systems
Low-voltage specialty systems
Construction drawing preparation and revisions
Core Responsibilities
Create and revise construction drawings under supervision

Produce:
Floor plan layouts
Riser diagrams
Electrical interconnection drawings
Installation termination drawings
Prepare submittal documentation, including:
Product data sheets
Battery calculations
Maintain project drawing files and records
Track and update as-built drawings
Support design team members with assigned projects

What Would Make a Candidate Strong
1-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience in construction-related environments
Experience reading construction and electrical drawings
Background working with contractors, integrators, or engineering firms
Strong document control and project organization skills
Error-free, well-formatted resume demonstrating attention to detail
