Job Summary
We are seeking a CAD Drafter to create and modify detailed technical and engineering drawings for customized industrial equipment and structural systems. This position will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and field installation teams to develop accurate drawings that support fabrication and installation.
The ideal candidate will have experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software and a background in structural, mechanical, fabrication, material handling, or industrial equipment design.
Responsibilities
- Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for industrial equipment and structural systems.
- Prepare layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings based on engineering concepts and project requirements.
- Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, field measurements, and design concepts.
- Develop drawings involving structural components, building interfaces, equipment layouts, and fabrication details.
- Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Revise existing drawings based on engineering changes, field conditions, and project feedback.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, manufacturing personnel, and installation teams to resolve design and drafting issues.
- Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and technical documentation.
- Support project schedules by completing drawings and revisions within established deadlines.
- Follow applicable company, industry, and safety standards.
- Assist with continuous improvement of drafting and design processes.
Qualifications
- Experience producing technical and engineering drawings for industrial equipment, structural systems, fabrication, or related applications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD/design software.
- Strong understanding of 2D drafting; experience with 3D modeling is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and structural details.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and/or structural engineering principles.
- Experience with overhead cranes, material handling equipment, structural steel, fabrication, or industrial machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and field personnel.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, CAD, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements or industrial safety standards is a plus.
