CAD Designer / Drafter

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a CAD Designer / Drafter to support the design and documentation of custom industrial equipment. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to develop detailed drawings, 3D models, and production documentation for engineered products built to customer specifications.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, engineered-to-order manufacturing environment where projects vary from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for custom engineered products.
  • Prepare manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
  • Interpret engineering concepts and convert them into production-ready documentation.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering changes and customer requirements.
  • Maintain drawing revisions, bill of materials, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, purchasing, and project management to support project execution.
  • Verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of drafting standards and documentation practices.
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of drafting or design experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar 2D/3D CAD software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting engineered-to-order manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, fabricated assemblies, or custom machinery.
  • Understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Exposure to mechanical, structural, or electrical design projects.
