The Business Systems Analyst plays a key role in the support and development of core systems and technical projects as well as communication of business ideas/problems into technical requirements. As part of the IT team, you'll collaborate with business partners within the organization to understand their needs in addition to defining system requirements, building technical specifications, quality assurance testing and production deployments.
Strategic Focus
Assumes responsibility for evaluating and assessing best practices to meet operational and business objectives and develops strategies to meet established goals. Conducts analysis of data to identify opportunities for performance improvement and links performance outcomes to financial and business endeavors. Typically performs business analysis activities using a variety of techniques in initiatives of varying scope. Identifies the current state of processes, elicits useful and harmful attributes of each, documents models of the processes and facilitates stakeholder groups to consensus regarding new business process designs. This individual will perform in a proactive manner to assist in identifying impacts and linkages to the business strategies, organization and its people, data and systems, business policies and business rules, as well as the physical assets of the business.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Leading ongoing reviews of business processes and developing optimization strategies.
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest process and IT advancements to automate and modernize systems.
  • Sourcing and implementing new business technology.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and users to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Managing the product backlog and prioritizing them based on changing requirements.
  • Defining the vision for the team's products/applications.
  • Prioritizing efforts based on business needs and requirements.
  • Creating a product/application road map based on this vision.
  • Conducting meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Documenting and communicating the results of your efforts.
  • Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Providing leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
  • Leading user acceptance testing.
  • Managing projects, developing project plans, and monitoring performance.
  • Documenting, updating, implementing, and maintaining procedures.
  • Analyzing data to inform business decisions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • 5 years of support for Payroll/HR applications.
  • 5 years in a business application support/management experience.
  • 2 years of support for ERP applications.
  • Degree in computer engineering, business administration, or related field.
  • 7 years in a technology-driven role.
  • Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.
  • Experience leading and developing top-performing teams.
  • A history of leading and supporting successful projects.
  • A track record of following through on commitments.
