Position Summary
The Arizona Department of Revenue is seeking a motivated Business Intelligence Analyst to support the department’s strategic goals through data analysis, reporting, and visualization. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who can work with large datasets, identify trends, and translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.
The role will work closely with internal teams to understand business needs, develop reports and dashboards, analyze data, and improve reporting processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
- Write, execute, and analyze SQL queries
- Develop standard and ad-hoc SSRS reports
- Build reports and visualizations using Power BI
- Utilize SQL, Excel, Google Sheets, and other analytical tools to work with large volumes of data
- Validate data and ensure accuracy and consistency across reports and datasets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and reporting needs
- Analyze business processes and identify opportunities to improve workflows
- Troubleshoot Business Intelligence tools and assist with performance optimization and usability
- Organize and synthesize complex data into clear findings and business issues
- Identify potential solutions and logical outcomes based on data analysis
- Develop and maintain applications and automation scripts using Visual Basic (VB)
- Clearly communicate findings through reports, dashboards, and presentations
- Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Relevant education, training, coursework, or professional experience in data analysis or Business Intelligence
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Power BI, SSRS, MS Access, or similar reporting/analytics tools
- Understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS)
- Knowledge of software development processes including requirements gathering, technical design, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
- Visual Basic (VB) experience preferred
- Interest in AI tools and working in environments that utilize AI technologies
