Billing & Settlement Clerk – Trucking
Work Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Settlement Clerk to support freight billing, driver payroll settlements, and administrative operations within a fast-paced trucking and transportation environment.
This position is responsible for ensuring freight shipments are accurately billed to customers and drivers receive proper compensation for completed trips. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to resolve billing and payroll discrepancies while working closely with drivers, managers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Freight Billing & Settlement

Accurately process completed driver trips for payroll settlement, ensuring weekly and monthly deadlines are met.

Review delivered loads to ensure the correct customer or responsible party is billed accurately.

Verify freight charges, including applicable accessorial charges, to ensure complete and accurate billing.

Identify, research, and resolve billing discrepancies and payment-related issues.

Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for freight billing and settlement activities.
Driver Payroll & Compensation

Process driver payroll settlements based on completed trips and applicable compensation policies.

Research and resolve moderately complex driver compensation and payroll discrepancies.

Develop an understanding of union and non-union payroll policies and procedures.

Respond to payroll-related inquiries from drivers and hourly employees.

Collaborate with managers to ensure accurate documentation of hours worked, earned compensation, and payroll adjustments.

Ensure payroll-related transactions are processed accurately and within established deadlines.
Administrative & Operational Support

Perform data entry and maintain accurate billing, payroll, and settlement records.

Communicate effectively with drivers, managers, and internal departments to resolve questions and discrepancies.

Review supporting documentation to identify missing or inaccurate information.

Assist with general administrative and accounting-related tasks as needed.

Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and professionalism in a deadline-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
Experience
-
General office, administrative, accounting, or trucking industry experience preferred.

Ability and willingness to learn trucking industry practices, terminology, and procedures.

Previous payroll processing or driver settlement experience is a plus.
Technical Skills

Strong data entry, keyboarding, and 10-key proficiency.

Basic understanding of mathematical calculations and accounting procedures.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including:

Ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
