We are currently seeking an organized Bill of Materials (BOM) Administrator!

Reporting directly to the Quality Department Leadership Team, this role is critical to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our product data. The BOM Administrator will be the central point of contact for managing our item master records and ensuring that our manufacturing processes are supported by precise and up-to-date documentation.

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in product lifecycle management, collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams. Your work will ensure that all components and materials are accurately tracked and that any changes or deviations are managed systematically to uphold our stringent quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

The core duties of the BOM Administrator revolve around the creation, maintenance, and auditing of product data within our enterprise systems.

  • BOM and Item Master Management: Create, modify, and maintain multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) and item master records for materials, components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods in the ERP/PLM system.
  • Data Integrity and Accuracy: Ensure the consistency and accuracy of product data, part numbering systems, and operational routings across all platforms. Conduct periodic reviews of BOMs and other item masters to validate data and report findings to the Quality Leadership Team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, sales, and procurement teams to input data based on Change Controls, manufacturing line setups, scrap factors, assembly and other requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and propose BOM processes and methods related to part numbering, system capabilities, BOM releases, and inventory control.
  • Quality Assurance Support: Ensure there are no quality issues related to BOMs, item masters, or associated documentation. Support the Quality Leadership Team in BOM inputs and other departmental initiatives as required.

Additional Quality Department Tasks (Nice-to-Have)

Candidates with experience in broader quality management processes will be highly regarded. These tasks include:

  • Change Control Administration: Facilitate the engineering change control process. Update running engineering changes with effectivity dates to ensure efficient run-in and run-out of parts and materials.
  • Deviation Management: Initiate, track, and oversee completion of processing deviations. Ensure that departures from approved procedures are thoroughly investigated, recorded, and resolved without negatively impacting product quality or safety.
  • Document Control: Assist in maintaining company-controlled documents, drawings, and records, ensuring adherence to document security and retention policies.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a blend of technical knowledge and strong administrative capabilities.

  • Experience: Proven experience in BOM administration, configuration management, or an engineering data role within a manufacturing or quality environment. Previous experience managing item masters in an ERP or PLM system (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of product structures, revision control, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is advantageous.
  • Attention to Detail : Exceptional attention to detail and data entry accuracy, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in complex product data.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise across multiple departments and present findings to leadership.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
