About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to support the daily operations of a water utility. This leadership position will oversee utility operations, construction projects, employees, safety, water quality, customer service, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager with daily utility operations and personnel management.
  • Lead and develop employees through training, performance management, and recruiting.
  • Oversee water distribution, treatment, construction, and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate construction projects with contractors, municipalities, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, inspections, change orders, and completion.
  • Oversee inventory, material ordering, and division safety programs.
  • Ensure required water quality testing and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Assist with customer service issues and complex operational concerns.
  • Step in for the General Manager or Superintendent when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • 3 years of water utility, utility operations, construction, or comparable experience.
  • Strong knowledge of water distribution, treatment, testing, and utility construction.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; AS400, Great Plains, Smart Client, or Ariett experience is a plus.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • ADEQ Water Distribution and Water Treatment Operator certification at the required level.
