Assembly Technician
Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Overtime available until 4:30 PM)
Pay Range:$18.00–$27.00 per hour (Based on experience)
Position Summary
Nesco Resource is sourcing for a skilled and dependable Assembly Technician for our client in Clinton Township, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding, mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, and quality workmanship. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to producing high-quality products in a safe manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications to determine assembly and welding requirements.
- Measure and Client out materials using tape measures, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and spot welding on assemblies.
- Weld components using manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Select the appropriate welding process and equipment based on job requirements.
- Prepare materials by cleaning parts and removing burrs prior to welding.
- Operate angle grinders and other finishing tools to prepare and finish welded parts.
- Align, fit, and clamp components using measuring devices and fixtures.
- Inspect welds and finished assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and identify any defects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve assembly or welding issues as they arise.
- Safely operate forklifts (Hi-Lo) and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain welding equipment and work areas in a safe and clean condition.
- Produce quality assemblies while meeting production and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Resistance Spot Welding (RSW).
- Proficiency using welding equipment, metal cutting tools, grinders, hand tools, tape measures, and calipers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Ability to read and understand job orders, Bills of Materials (BOMs), work instructions, and engineering specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to identify and communicate quality concerns effectively to supervisors and team members.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and manufacturing procedures.
- Forklift (Hi-Lo) experience is preferred.
Education & Certifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Welding Certification (GMAW/GTAW)
- Qualified in 1G through 4G welding positions
Experience
- Previous welding and manufacturing assembly experience required.
