Assembly Technician – 2nd Shift

Job Title: Assembly Technician / Assembler

Shift: 2nd Shift (Typical Hours: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, Monday – Friday)

Job Summary

The 2nd Shift Assembly Technician is responsible for performing precision assembly of mechanical, electrical, or structural components following standardized work instructions, blueprints, and quality guidelines. This role ensures high-quality production output while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and keeping pace with daily manufacturing targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly & Production:

    • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic equipment, and specialized machinery.

    • Position, align, and fit components according to engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    • Read and interpret work orders, schematics, and cut lists to ensure correct materials and quantities are used.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Perform quality checks on incoming parts and completed assemblies to detect defects, flaws, or deviations from specifications.

    • Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, torque wrenches) to ensure exact tolerances.

    • Report component shortages, defective materials, or repeated equipment issues to the shift supervisor immediately.

  • Safety & Maintenance:

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following standard 5S principles.

    • Operate all tools and machinery in strict compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols (including proper PPE usage).

    • Conduct routine daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.

  • Shift Operations & Teamwork:

    • Participate in shift overlap handoff meetings to ensure seamless transitions between 1st and 2nd shift production lines.

    • Collaborate effectively with team members, quality control inspectors, and shift leads to maintain steady workflow and meet hourly production targets.
