Applications Engineer – Electrical Power Systems

Tulsa, OK | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Primarily On-Site with Remote Flexibility (5 Days Remote Per Month)

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $110,000–$140,000, depending on experience

This is a salaried position with no commission structure; compensation is based on experience and responsibilities.

What You'll Do

Technical Applications & Estimating

  • Review customer specifications, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and project requirements to determine equipment needs and project scope.

  • Develop technical solutions, equipment selections, and cost estimates for electrical projects.

  • Prepare accurate quotations and proposals for electrical equipment and project packages.

  • Determine material, equipment, labor, and outside service requirements for proposed projects.

  • Identify technical, commercial, scheduling, or sourcing concerns early in the proposal process.

  • Recommend alternative equipment or solutions when appropriate to improve cost, availability, or project execution.

Customer & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, engineering, procurement, and project teams to clarify customer requirements and develop appropriate solutions.

  • Provide technical support during customer discussions, proposal reviews, and project handoffs.

  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Help ensure quoted solutions can be successfully engineered, purchased, and delivered.

Vendor & Commercial Support

  • Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing for major electrical components and equipment.

  • Research equipment availability, lead times, supplier capabilities, and product alternatives.

  • Maintain accurate proposal and estimating information.

  • Manage multiple active quotes and proposals while adjusting priorities based on customer and project needs.

Project Support

  • Support projects involving new construction, facility expansions, equipment upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and capital projects.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure project requirements are understood and accurately represented in proposals.

  • Participate in project handoffs and provide technical context to teams responsible for engineering and execution.

  • Continue developing knowledge of electrical equipment, project requirements, and industry applications.


What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, electrical estimating, proposal engineering, project engineering, technical sales support, or a related technical field.

  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems and equipment.

  • Familiarity with switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, or low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Experience with technical quotations, equipment pricing, project estimating, or proposal development.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineers, sales teams, suppliers, and project personnel.

  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline is preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Work Environment

This position is based in a professional office and industrial project environment. The role is primarily on-site with flexibility for up to 5 remote days per month, depending on business and project needs.

You'll regularly collaborate with sales, engineering, procurement, project management, and other internal teams.
