Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, and detail-oriented AP/AR General Accounting Associate to join our accounting team. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for a dependable accounting professional with strong accounts payable and accounts receivable experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, maintaining accurate financial records, resolving account discrepancies, and assisting with month-end accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process, verify, and accurately post vendor invoices in a timely manner.
- Review invoices for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and appropriate authorization.
- Code invoices to the appropriate General Ledger accounts and cost centers.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and vendor inquiries.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and support documentation.
- Assist with AP account reconciliations and month-end close activities.
- Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and transaction history.
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Perform customer collections and communicate professionally regarding past-due accounts.
- Research and resolve customer deductions, discrepancies, short payments, and payment issues.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate and resolve variances.
- Prepare and maintain accounts receivable reports and supporting documentation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or a related accounting function.
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- SAP accounting software experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze, reconcile, and manage large volumes of financial data.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
