Position Summary
The Accountant II – Payroll / General Ledger supports the Finance team by performing accounting activities related to payroll, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, month-end close, forecasting, audits, and financial analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate has experience with payroll accounting, general ledger functions, ERP systems, advanced Excel, and month-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Accounting
- Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report payroll transactions.
- Collect, reconcile, and process employee timecard information.
- Prepare and submit payroll files.
- Receive and accrue contract labor hours.
- Maintain and allocate project labor hours.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
- Prepare, record, verify, analyze, and report general ledger transactions.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare bank statement reconciliations and maintain the cashbook.
- Research and resolve outstanding liabilities related to Procurement, R&D Engineering, and Capital projects.
- Process monthly intercompany transactions and reconcile related accounts.
- Assist with month-end close activities.
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Analyze financial data and recommend appropriate accounting treatments.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and company accounting policies.
Forecasting & Business Support
- Partner with business leaders to support monthly forecast updates.
- Review reserve balances and provide financial reporting support.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
- Support operational initiatives and financial decision-making.
Audits & Compliance
- Participate in annual internal audits.
- Identify ineffective or inefficient internal controls and recommend improvements.
- Support financial audits and SOX compliance audits.
- Audit financial transactions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Equivalent related field
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred.
