Job Summary
The 3D Print Technician/Operator plays both a hands-on technical and operational role in supporting cleanroom optical ribbon and fiber optic cable manufacturing. This position provides process expertise, equipment troubleshooting, and direct mechanical and design support. The role supports stable operations, continuous improvement, and production scale-up in a fast-growing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Process Support
- Operate, monitor, and optimize cleanroom-based optical ribbon and cable manufacturing processes
- Monitor lines to ensure quality product & perform necessary QA checks to ensure product is manufactured to specification
3D Printing, Modelling & Equipment Support
- Create, print and test 3D models in Autodesk Inventor modeling software
- Collaborate with team members to develop, implement, test and integrate equipment to optimize production processes
- Support preventive maintenance and equipment reliability initiatives
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to cleanroom protocols, SOPs, and safety requirements
- Monitor in-line and off-line quality metrics and drive corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with ISO, Telcordia/GR, IEC, and customer specifications
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze process data using SPC and manufacturing systems to improve yield, throughput, and uptime
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives
- Assist with new equipment installation, process transfers, and plant expansion efforts
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred
- Extensive experience and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D Modelling and Solidworks
- Historical hands-on experience in 3D modelling, design, printing and testing mechanical components
- Proficiency in SPC, MES, and process data analysis
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and procedures
- Understanding of cleanroom operations and contamination control
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Attention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with high-count or rollable ribbon fiber products, optical fiber handling, ribbonization, and precision equipment
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- Experience supporting rapid production scale-up in a cleanroom environment
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work on the cleanroom manufacturing floor for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for fine fiber handling and equipment adjustments
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to wear cleanroom garments for full shift
Work Environment
- Day shift in a controlled cleanroom optical manufacturing facility
- Exposure to controlled fiber materials, precision equipment, and cleanroom processes
