Job Description: Tool and Die Maker
A Tool and Die Maker, isresponsible for repairing, maintaining, and fabricating stamping tools and dies to support manufacturing efficiency. This highly skilled trades role focuses on ensuring production parts consistently meet strict customer standards and dimension tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Tool Maintenance:Repair and maintain stamp tooling, including punches and dies.
- Tooling Changes:Perform changeovers and remove punches for sharpening or replacement.
- Troubleshooting:Diagnose tooling issues, adjust machinery to achieve proper part quality, and support new tooling try-outs.
- Preventive Maintenance:Fill out and file preventive maintenance sheets, while keeping the tool room organized and safe.
- Experience:Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related tool and die experience, with a Journeyman card or apprenticeship certificate often preferred.
- Technical Skills:Strong machining and setup capabilities are required. Must be able to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
- Math Skills:Solid mathematical abilities—including fractions, decimals, and basic statistics—are necessary for precise measurements.
- Physical Demands:Requires the ability to stand/walk for long periods and regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
