1st shift Material Handler

Duties & Responsibilities

• Transport materials and inventory; this includes loading, unloading, picking, putting away, consolidating, stacking, staging of products and materials using power equipment (forklift, pallet jack, tugger, turret, etc.).

• Maintain in-process inventory at work centers: deliver/open materials and supplies.

• Dispose of scrap items (bracing, cardboard, trash, strapping); keep work environment safe and clean.

• Maintain inventory records: identify, label, place materials & supplies in stock, record locations.

• Confirm shipping details or special instructions; expedite shipments that affect manufacturing scheduling.

• Prepare finished stock for shipment: identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, securing product.

• Maintain records of materials received and shipped (dates, locations, etc.).

• Conduct cycle counts to verify material quantity accuracy.

• Load finished goods for customer shipments using proper material handling equipment.Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to operate all power equipment used in the Materials department.

Work Environment & Other Details

• Safety is emphasized: clean work environment; disposing scrap; operating heavy/power equipment safely.

• The position involves handling inventory, shipments, material movement, so tasks are physical. Lifting, walking, standing are common.
