Position Overview
The Collections Analyst is a key contributor within the Accounts Receivable function, supporting some of the organization's most complex and high-value customer accounts. This role is responsible for managing strategic and at-risk accounts while driving successful collection outcomes, identifying process improvements, and serving as a subject matter expert across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience managing complex collections environments, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Customer Service, Sales, IT, and Finance. This role requires independent decision-making, relationship management, and the ability to analyze data to improve the invoice-to-cash process.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor strategic, complex, and at-risk customer accounts to prioritize collection efforts and achieve objectives
- Perform detailed account analysis to identify trends, recurring issues, and root causes impacting receivables
- Develop and implement solution plans to improve account performance and customer outcomes
- Coordinate with internal teams and Accounts Receivable resources to drive resolution efforts
- Lead or participate in cross-functional meetings focused on problem-solving, process improvement, and training initiatives
- Negotiate resolutions within assigned authority levels to achieve favorable outcomes for both the company and customers
- Manage accounts with complex support requirements, including:
- EDI transaction processing
- International and multi-currency accounts
- Outsourced collections support
- Monitor and support third-party vendors involved in Accounts Receivable activities
- Respond to customer inquiries related to billing discrepancies, payment disputes, and account concerns
- Serve as a subject matter expert supporting AR and IT leadership with:
- System testing
- Documentation
- Training
- Requirements gathering
- Process improvement initiatives
- Assist leadership with scheduling, resource coordination, and team support as needed
- Support basic project management activities
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience within a large-scale Accounts Receivable or transaction-based accounting environment
- 2–4 years of commercial credit and collections experience, preferably within a large organization
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated success working within a metrics-driven environment
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- Experience supporting international transactions, including:
- Multi-currency environments
- Tax and duty considerations
- Compliance requirements
- Experience partnering with IT teams on:
- Requirements gathering
- System testing
- Troubleshooting
- Experience creating and maintaining procedures and policies
Technical Skills
- Intermediate proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Word
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Familiarity with enterprise accounting or CRM systems such as:
- SAP
- Oracle
- Experience with:
- EDI transactions
- ACH/CTX processing
- Ariba or web-based procurement portals
- Internet research and e-commerce tools
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including:
- Scanner
- Copier
- Fax
- Phone systems
- 10-key calculator
