Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in Corporate Payroll team. In this fast paced, customer service driven environment, the Payroll Specialist will interact with a diverse workforce including colleagues and management with top level visibility. In line with  core values, a successful candidate will demonstrate dedication to confidentiality and operational excellence with a focus on the customer. The individual in this role will gain valuable knowledge, skills and experience in an area of Payroll that interacts daily with colleagues and management from all levels of the organization. Excellent customer service is a must for this role as you direct and advise on personnel decisions of colleagues professional lives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Process US and Canadian payroll, with accuracy and timeliness
  • Problem-solve to remediate any processing errors
  • Apply discretion in decision-making for maintaining compliance as well as a high level of customer service
  • Communicate effectively with local management teams to ensure accurate payroll processing
  • Approach process and system with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Complete and balance all required payroll reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness Complete accurately Form 941, W2, T4, and other relevant tax documentation for all subsidiaries
  • Maintain data compliantly and securely
  • Ensure accurate process documentation inclusive of manuals and SOP's
  • Provide guidance and support to employees timely, accurately and professionally
  • Serve as secondary processor for US and Canadian non-exempt payrolls
  • Collaborate with management and other departments across the organization for top notch customer service

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years of general office/accounting experience; payroll experience preferred
  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Intermediate understanding of accounting/mathematical procedures is required
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong strategic thinking and a firm attention to detail are a must
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking forms
  • Knowledge of business units/structure preferred
  • Superior attention to detail with the ability to locate discrepancies
  • Motivation to be innovative with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Exceptional customer service, organization and time management skills
  • Special projects may be given to help support management metrics
  • Ability to set goals, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable making quick/calculated decisions
  • Knowledge of IBM (CICS & IMS) and MDM systems
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly; read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing in order to effectively communicate in person or by phone
