Summary: As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will design, build, and manage large-scale data pipelines in Azure to support enterprise analytics and reporting. The ideal candidate will work with tools like PySpark, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI to transform raw data into structured, usable insights while ensuring data security and governance.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Power BI Report Developers to build and optimize data models that meet evolving business needs.
- Support the migration of existing reports from SSRS to Power BI as part of a broader modernization effort.
- Work with Azure Data Lake and Microsoft Fabric to structure, store, and model data; deliver dashboards that are functional and clean, even if not highly visualized or modern.
- Participate in sunsetting legacy reporting systems and replacing them with Power BI-based solutions by firm deadlines.
- Help design a consolidated data store to aggregate data from disconnected systems and enable cross-client analytics.
- Assist with building a new FP&A Data Store as part of an ERP transition
- Support the establishment of secure data tunnels between two corporate entities for data exchange.
- Collaborate directly with multiple stakeholders including Finance leadership, Azure engineers, BI developers, and offshore teams.
Must-Have Requirements:
- 8 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or cloud data architecture
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Pipelines
- Strong proficiency in PySpark for data processing and transformation
- Experience building and automating ETL/ELT pipelines
- Expertise in data orchestration and workflow automation
- Experience creating and managing data lakes, SQL Server databases, and data warehouses in Azure
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and data modeling (DAX, Power Query)
- Working knowledge of data governance frameworks (lineage, cataloging, RBAC)
- Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience creating ER diagrams and designing star-schema data marts
- Prior involvement in systems/data consolidation projects or ERP transitions is a strong plus.
- Exposure to enterprise data architecture spanning multiple organizations or secure data tunneling is a bonus.
- Certifications such as DP-600 (Microsoft Fabric Analytics) and DP-700 (Data Analyst Associate) are preferred.
- Experience with turbo processing engines a plus
