JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the melting of aluminum and maintaining of all furnaces in the production and furnace areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
Burn die cast machine scrap
Retrieve and burn full barrels of die cast oily scrap
Flux and clean reverbs as required
Clean holding furnaces as required
Maintain oily scrap barrels in an orderly manner
Preheat ingots (No more that 4 tier high)
Maintain scrap hoppers in an orderly manner
Maintain furnace temperatures per instructions
Keep work area clean
Verify proper identification of alloys and furnaces
Chart reverb and holding furnaces temperatures
Degas each bull ladle
Chart each bull ladle on tap out log
Keep tap out troughs free of metal
Empty and burn full sows
Clean pour troughs
Maintain proper metal level in all furnaces
Clean bull ladles as to assignments
All applicable safety guidelines are to be followed
OTHER FUNCTIONS OF JOB
- Clean holding furnaces on a periodic basis
- Clean and maintain pour troughs daily
- Repair cracks or air leaks around holding furnaces
- Clean debris or metal spills around holding furnaces
- Check dip well lids once per week for proper fit and insulation
- Document properly all log sheets and check sheets
- All scarp metal in boxes needs to be put in hopper for melt
- Other duties as required
