100th Staffing Firm Earns WRC Certification

The American Staffing Association and Risk Control Services announced today that 100 staffing companies have now been awarded Workers’ Compensation Risk Certification (WRC).

NESCO Resource, a Cleveland-based company, became the 100th company to earn certification. Andrew Deutsch, NESCO corporate risk manager, states, “Becoming WRC certified is a testament to the commitment we have in our employees, our clients, and our industry.”

Founded in September 2005, The WRC program recognizes staffing companies that practice best in class risk management to reduce workplace injuries and related costs. WRC certified companies maintain that focus on safety and risk management protects their employees while offering a higher level of service to clients.

Staci Thornton of IMKO and Diversified Staffing Services, based in St. Joseph, MO, reminds clients that WRC is part the value they offer. “The WRC Certification program is by far one of the most proactive services we offer to clients to help them preserve their safety record.” Deutsch agrees, “By focusing on the safety of our workers, we are focusing on the safety of our clients.”

To be awarded certification, companies undergo a thorough review of their operational practices as they apply to hiring and screening, substance abuse, talent matching, employee orientation, client safety evaluations and partnerships, incident investigations and corrective measures, and return-to-work programs. The results are compared against a system of best practices developed by an advisory council of insurance carriers, insurance brokers, and staffing industry risk managers.

Robert Purdy, president of AIG Specialty Workers’ Compensation, serves on the WRC Advisory Council. “[WRC] continues to raise the standards and image of the staffing industry, and we look forward to its further growth.”

RCS, the nation’s fourth-largest independent risk management consulting firm, conducts ongoing auditing of the operations of each WRC certified company. Annual audits are a requirement to maintain certification.

The searchable directory of certified companies, as well as other information about WRC, is published on the program’s Web site at http://www.staffingWRCs.com
